Glacier National Park starts about half an hour east of the shop. These are the days we send riders on first.
Going-to-the-Sun Road
The one everyone comes for. In spring, before the road opens to cars, the closed section above Lake McDonald belongs to bikes and hikers, and an e-bike turns the climb toward the Loop and Logan Pass into a day anyone can do. Once the road opens to vehicles, early mornings are the time to ride. Read our Sun Road biking guide and check the road status before you go.
Lake McDonald And Apgar
Apgar Village sits at the foot of Lake McDonald, with a beach, boat rentals, the visitor center and the start of the lakeshore ride. The road along the lake’s west side is the easiest ride in the park and the best first hour on an e-bike.
Trails
The park holds more than 700 miles of trails. Near the west entrance, Trail of the Cedars and Avalanche Lake are the short, popular ones; Johns Lake Loop is quieter. Bikes stay on the roads, so lock up at the trailhead and walk from there.
Camping
Thirteen campgrounds sit inside the park, from Apgar on the west side to Many Glacier and Two Medicine on the east. Most fill early in summer; nps.gov lists which take reservations.
Whitefish As Your Base
Stay in Whitefish, start at the shop, and the lake, the mountain and downtown are all within a ride when you are back from the park. See where to ride and places to stay.
Park rules, vehicle reservations and road conditions change. Check nps.gov before you leave.
