Fly into Kalispell and you are 15 minutes from the shop and half an hour from the park gate. Here is how the airport works and what to do when you land.

The Airport

Glacier Park International Airport, airport code FCA, sits on US Highway 2 between Kalispell and Columbia Falls. The park service lists it as approximately 30 miles west of the West Entrance. By the highway it is about 24 miles and half an hour to West Glacier, and about 11 miles and 15 minutes north to our shop on Highway 93 in Whitefish. Rental cars are at the terminal.

The airport’s site lists six airlines: Alaska, Delta, United, American, Allegiant and Sun Country. Year-round direct flights serve Seattle, Minneapolis, Salt Lake City, Denver, Las Vegas and Phoenix. Seasonal nonstops have served Portland, Chicago, Dallas, San Francisco, Oakland, Los Angeles, San Diego, Houston and New York LaGuardia. Routes change by season, so check the airline before you book.

The Other Airports

Missoula International Airport is about 150 miles south of the West Entrance. Great Falls International Airport is 130 to 165 miles east of the St. Mary, Two Medicine and Many Glacier entrances. Both work, but they mean a much longer drive.

By Train

Amtrak’s Empire Builder stops year-round at West Glacier (Belton) and at Essex, and seasonally at East Glacier Park. It also stops daily at the depot in downtown Whitefish. In summer, Glacier National Park Lodges runs a paid shuttle from the West Glacier depot to Apgar Village and Lake McDonald Lodge; the park says reservations are required.
