Aventon Pace vs LevelWhich One Should You Buy?

Pick the Pace if you want to sit upright and cruise the lake road or the bike path. Pick the Level if you ride every day, carry things and want a bike that feels like a bicycle, not a scooter. Both reach 28 mph, most models use a 733Wh removable battery, and both come in step-through frames. The Level line has more range at the top of the range; the Pace is lighter and simpler.

The Pace and the Level are Aventon’s cruiser and commuter families. Here is how they differ, in the numbers Aventon publishes and in the way they ride.

The Short Version

The Pace is a cruiser: swept-back bars, an upright seat, a 750W hub motor on the Pace 5, 60 pounds. The Level is a commuter: a flatter bar, a more forward position, and a torque sensor that matches the motor’s help to how hard you pedal (the Pace 5 has one too). The Level 4 ADV steps up to a mid-drive motor and a bigger battery.

Who The Pace Suits

Riders who want comfort first. The upright position is easy on the back and wrists, the step-through version is easy on and off, and the bike is light enough to lift onto a rack. It is the bike we point to for the lake road, the river path, neighborhood errands and riders who have not been on a bike in years.

Who The Level Suits

Riders who will use the bike every day. The torque sensor makes the motor feel natural and the position is made for miles. The Level 4 ADV’s mid-drive motor and 800Wh battery make it the one for long days and real hills. If you plan to ride to Glacier from Whitefish and back, this is the family.

The Honest Trade-Offs

The Level weighs more and usually costs more. The Pace puts comfort ahead of speed, which most of its riders want. Neither is a mountain bike; for singletrack, read about the Ramblas or the fat-tire Aventure.

Ride Both

The only way to know is ten minutes on each. Ask us which Pace and Level models are in the shop, and ride both. See the showroom, or read which Aventon e-bike is right for you for the whole lineup.
